Uploaded The Good Times to ff.net.

Watched both the premiere and 1x02 of Alphas. Definitely interested enough that I'll watch more. I do so love corrupt characters... and especially ones that seem nice and wholesome on the surface. Come to think of it, the reverse is equally as fun.

Maybe SyFy will let the creative powers do their thing. Please? I still have a few kittens left to give away.

I'm sure I'm not the only geek who watched parts of the History's series on real life superheroes and loves when a science-fiction program uses fact-based devices. Coolness.

Family crap to take care of today, and downloading Terminator x 2.

Ninja Pony

He's cute. He's fluffy. He's a NINJA.

This is Bartles, a pony we rescued a few years ago. He had grotesquely overgrown feet and was severely foundered when I bought him. (Yeah, I paid for a foundered pony. I'm a soft touch.)

To picture founder... imagine if your fingernail surrounded the entire tip of your finger. That nail capsule would be the equivalent of the hard hoof that's visible, the last bit of finger bone inside the hoof /nail would be called a coffin bone. Founder is when the entire tissue network between hoof and coffin bone becomes inflamed.

Severe founder turns the tissue into sort of a mush, allowing the coffin bone to slosh around inside of the hoof. (Over-simplified description, but...) This is incredibly painful for the animal, and many foundered horses are put down. A severe founder case will almost certainly never be sound enough structurally for riding or other work due to permanent damage to the coffin bone.

There really isn't a 'cure' for foundered hooves. We put his feet in special foam pads for what felt like forever, trimmed his hooves back over time,  and then had special pony-sized shoes built for him. Once those came off, his feet had healed enough internally so that he wasn't in pain... but his coffin bone has shifted and degraded.

He'll never be sound enough for riding or even being a cart pony. (Some day I'll make a list of my other completely worthless 'special needs' pets...) But, he makes a damn fine ninja.

(PS... anyone reading this journal who would like to buy a worthless ninja pony, please feel free to send me a message. I will only detail all of his secret ninja skills to his purchaser.)
